Walking in Northern England
South Pennines – Walk & Ride Festival
10th – 25th September 2011
Taking place between the 10th and 25th September is the South Pennine Walk & Ride Festival. This festival is home to over 100 events from guided walks to horse and cycle rides. The aim of the festival is to encourage people to explore and discover the South Pennines in Northern England as well as encouraging people to get out in the great outdoors and enjoy fresh air and exercise.

Pateley Bridge Walking Festival
22nd – 25th September 2011
The Pateley Bridge Walking Festival is located in Nidderdale in North Yorkshire. The walking festival was established by a group of walkers who are all local to the area. Having literally walked up and down dale for many years, they decided that it made sense to share the beauty of Nidderdale with other walkers who take pleasure in exploring on foot. The festival takes people walking on the most popular walks and this year has added some new walks to the schedule including a walk to Cathedral, Abbey and Chapel, which takes in Ripon Cathedral and Fountains Abbey.

Richmond Walking & Book Festival 2011
23rd September – 2nd October 2011
The Richmond Walking & Book Festival 2011 gives you the opportunity to experience guided walks through Swansdale and Wensleydale including the Wensleydale Chain which is a series of six circular walks starting at Hawes and walking down the Dale. The festival also gives you the chance to discover the historic delights of Richmond with its Norman Castle, savour short guided walks round the town and castle including ghost walks.

Walking in Wales
Barmouth Festival of Walking
17th – 26th September 2011
The Barmouth Festival of Walking is a well known and well established walking event in Wales organised by Barmouth Publicity Association. The aim of the festival is to take advantage of the fabulous walks and dramatic landscape accessible from Barmouth that is located on the west coast of Wales. The festival takes place every September and gives walkers of all abilities the opportunity to enjoy eight days of guided walks around the beautiful Mawddach Estuary and Southern Snowdonia.

Walk London – Autumn Ambles Weekend
24th – 25th September 2011
Walk London is running an Autumn Ambles Weekend funded by Transport for London on the 24th and 25th September 2011. The aim of the event is to encourage people to walk around London to discover what the Capital has to offer. In preparation for the event, Walk London has worked with the local authorities to develop an impressive network of quality walking routes for you to enjoy and discover. Derby Walking Festival
17th September – 15th October 2011
Derby Walking Festival runs between the 17th September and the 15th October and allows you to enjoy a great seletion of city walks and tours that allow you to enjoy and discover the city of Derby. The walks that are taking place have a variety of different themes aimed at reflecting the city’s history, culture and character. Walks include ghost tours to real ale tours and art festival walks to famous artist walks.
